Greymouth is the largest town on the West Coast and is located in the middle of the other main towns, at the mouth of the Gray River making it a good base from which to explore the whole Coast. It also has the daily Tranzalpine Train to and from Christchurch. This meanders through the beautiful Southern Alps and Arthurs Pass region.
